BTHVN2020 is a city tour built on augmented reality and let you virtually experience the young Beethoven in his Bonn times. He will guide you to 7 point of interests in the city of Bonn, where you can experience for example his birth and musician chamber.

The 3D models and overlay functions of places which does not exist anymore will give you lasting memories of the main important places in the 22 years Beethoven spent in Bonn before leaving for Vienna. Piano music of young international talents will round off this unique experience.
Point your camera in front of the point of interest, click the blue circle to let Beethoven appears. After his spoken and written introduction about the respective point of interest underscored by music, please click on “start” to open the experience.

If the experience ended, you are invited to a little game in which you can collect missing items such as notes, music sheets, candeliers, coins and put them into a virtual backpack. Be surprised by the gift you will get.
After that the app leads you to the next point of interest by clicking on “go there”. This will open the Google Maps app – please follow the directions. After reaching the next POI please go back to the BTVHN2020 app and continue by starting “start”. Each point of interest stands for its own and can be visit by its own. For the full experience of Beethovens life in Bonn, we recommend walking the tour in the right order from 1 to 7.

We also recommend to use your headphones to reduce background noises.

To place Beethovens avatar:
- Make sure you are standing in front of the point of interest, click on the respective card which fits to the point of interest (POI)
- Hold your smartphone with the open app at breast level towards the POI
- Move your smartphone until a blue circle appears
- Click on the blue circle
- Beethoven starts to speak in German language. The text is shown in English in the app (if the environment noise is too loud, please use your headphones)
Please be aware, that in the dark and under certain weather conditions it could be impossible to place the avatar as the surface can not be recognized properly.

Why we need the permissions:

Location
Your location helps us to guide you to the next point of interest. For this we use Google Maps navigation and lead you out of our app.

Camera:
The camera allows the app to scan the surface and to properly position places the Beethoven avatar.

Other:
Other various permissions allow the app to: receive google notifications, process notifications while the device is trying to sleep.
